Bummer Dude

 

 

Its raining, its pouring . . .  Its been raining now for over a day straight.  Did I ever mention, I don't do RAIN.  I have a very particular hairdo and it doesn't respond to rain very well.  Lets hope it clears up for the weekend.

 

In other news . . .

 

Sad day for Sir T.  He had his end of the year Safety Patrol Party today during school.  At the event, they announced next year's captains.  They chose 4 captains and Sir T was NOT one of them.  I have been putting a bug in his ear for months now to mention to the PE teacher (she heads up the Safety Patrol Program) that he had an interest in being a captain.  He spoke with her back in February at which time she said remind her later.  Well, each morning on the way to school I have been nagging him to remind her.  I guess he never got around to it and the opportunity passed him by.  He was upset and I was crushed to see him come off the bus today upset.  Then I did something I don't normally do.  I emailed the PE teacher to inquire as to why he was not selected.  She was so gracious with her response.  Here is what she wrote:

Sir T did mention to me that he wanted to be a captain and he was actually one of about 10 students that was nominated by teachers, bus drivers, and our current captains. It was difficult to make a decision because we had so many great candidates. I ultimately make the final decision, but only after I take a vote and hear the opinions of other teachers. Please tell Sir T that he was in the running and has many of the qualities we were looking for, but we can only take 4. He is a wonderful patrol and his bus driver and I appreciate how hard he works! We look for students that are leaders, great role models, responsible, good citizens, and empathetic. Since Sir T met all of the criteria, he was a strong candidate! I am sorry that he is upset and if for some reason one of the captains does not come back or does not want the responsibility, I will keep him in mind. I hope this helps. I usually don't get involved in stuff like this but I could see no reason why he wasn't selected.  I was so convinced he was going to be a captain.  He made Patrol of the Month 3 times this year.  After I calmed him down, we agreed that everything happens for a reason and maybe this is just a door closing so a BIG door can open.  I guess we will chalk this up as a learning experience.  If you want something REALLY bad, you have to go for it and not just wish it happens. 

Sir K had a fabulous day.  Willy and I surprised him at the African Market his grade put on today.  It was quite an event.  We thought we would show up and there would be maybe one or two other moms or dads and it would be in a small area of the pod near his room.  Boy, were we wrong.  It was in about 7 rooms and every single mom and dad from 4 second grade classes were there.  It was spectacular.  All Sir K's necklaces were sold quickly.  He was so proud of himself and we were too.  Job well done sweetie.

Lady E's turn is on Monday.  She has her bridging ceremony after school.  We have the whole family lined up to attend.  She will be so surprised.

Lady A is doing well.  Willy and her just left to purchase a gift for Lady E's birthday.  I guarantee she will come back with a little something-something for her.  She does have daddy wrapped around her finger.

Everything else is just fine.  We are all healthy and together.  Who could ask for anything more.  Remember to count your blessings and I will catch up with you soon.
