HUMP DAY

 

 

I have a couple of minutes so I thought I would check in.  Things are going well.  All our vacation plans are in order and now it's down to the wait game.  I can do this.  I can do this.

 

In other news . . .

 

Sir T had a great day at SACC yesterday.  It's such a change from the whining constantly about it.  When I asked him what made it so great, I got the usual response of an 11 year old - I don't know.  Oh well - huge victory that he had a good day.

 

Sir K is so excited about a fashion show that they are having at SACC next week.  I think he is trying out for the part of MC.  I didn't get too many details but I'm happy he's happy.

 

Lady E had a terrible accident yesterday at SACC.  It seems while swinging on the monkey bars, she slipped off and hit her head on a metal pole.  When I reached SACC, she was walking down the hall with an ice pack on her head.  Other than a big bump, she seemed fine.  Once we got home, she was so lethargic that it scared me.  I checked the signs for a possible concussion and nothing.  She wasn't nauseous, didn't have dialated pupils, wasn't disoriented or confused and her appetite was good.  I could just tell she wasn't on her game.  Needless to say, I spent the whole night with one eye open watching her.  She woke up happy and just fine.  Stressful night indeed.

 

Lady A was on cloud nine last night.  I ordered the girls matching bathing suits and cover ups for our trip and the package arrived last night.  She was SO happy.

 

Willy's foot seems to be ALMOST back to normal and I'm having a relatively good day here at work.  Willy signed the family up to do a 5K run/walk in October.  I did my first OFFICIAL training session last night.  Sir K and I went for a 1 mile run/walk.  We went around the neighborhood and walked, ran, talked and even held hands for awhile.  Oh how nice it was.  I'm looking forward to our walk/run tonight.

 

Willy and I watched a super funny comedian named Sebastian Maniscalco last night.  This was one of my favorite parts of the special.  This segment really cracked me up.  I can SO relate to it.

Juggling Along

 

With summer in full swing, we have been very busy at the ToddlerTown.   Whenever there is a major change to the schedule it definitely takes some "adjustment".  After school let out in mid-June, Willy and I were juggling the kids until summer SACC started.  Not an easy task with both Willy and I extremely busy at our outside-the-home jobs.   Somehow we got through it and the kids started SACC yesterday.

 

In other news . . . .

Sir T is participating in the SACC program but he's not a happy camper.   This is our first year trying SACC.  In the past it has been our daycare turned summer camp for all our children.  Last year though, we could tell Sir T had run his course at the daycare.  The closest child in age to him was his brother Sir K and that really didn't register high on the Sir T summer fun scale.  So this year we turned to the county summer SACC program.  I got excited when I saw the summer schedule.  Lots of sports activities.  Yesterday when I dropped all three of them off, I could tell Sir T was not going to like it.  I saw no children from his school (or grade for that matter) and the first sports activity scheduled - hula-hoop relay.  Not really his "thing".  He survived though and tomorrow is a new day. 

 

Sir K did great his first day.  One of the activities was karaoke.  BIG HIT FOR SIR K.  He also had a few friends from regular school in his room so I think he will enjoy himself this summer.

 

Lady E has at least 4 new friends that I know about so far.  Gotta love girls and networking.  She'll do just fine this summer. 

 

Lady A is enjoying her summer camp as well.  First day was water play day.  Doesn't get any better than that.

 

For Willy and myself, the calendar really didn't change.  We definitely have less soccer and kids activities going on (we tend to take a break in the summer months) but we seem to be juggling a little bit more these last few weeks.  It doesn't help that we have ABSOLUTELY NO VACATION PLANS on the books yet.  Momma needs a nugget to look forward to or she will lose her mind.

Some Like It Hot . . .

 

 

Can you say HOT?  It's about 87 degrees right now at 9:32 in the morning.  I'm not complaining trust me.  I love the heat.  Anything below 78 degrees is cold in my world.  The weatherman just mentioned severe winds tonight with a small chance of tornadoes around the area.  Please be safe everyone.

 

In other news . . .

 

Sir T has bounced back after his blow regarding the Safety Patrol rejection.  He hasn't seen the P.E. teacher since the announcement last Friday but I have been STRESSING to him it's imperative to reach out to her.  He needs to thank her for the consideration and tell her that he is available if the opportunity arises to fill another spot.  Today, we have a doctor's appointment to clear him for his surgery on Monday.  Unfortunately, there is a stomach virus going around the neighborhood and Sir T has been complaining of an upset tummy.  Hopefully the doctor will clear him.

 

Sir K is just loving school this week.  Every day he has a special fun activity scheduled.  Today is "Bring a Game to School" day.  He took the Game of Life.  He loves that game. 

 

Lady E did fantastic at her Bridging Ceremony.  The entire family attended the ceremony and it was just beautiful.  I'm so proud of her.  She is now an official Brownie.

 

Lady A is on cloud nine lately.  Last year for her birthday, we gave her a small ride-on ATV.  At two, she was not at all impressed.  At 3 1/2, it's the hottest thing in town.  I can't keep the battery charged enough.  It's so funny to watch her driving in and out of rooms.  She is really enjoying it. 

 

I think Willy had a nice birthday.  We didn't do much.  I ordered Chinese food for dinner and we did a little cake and singing for dessert.  I was bummed that the gift I ordered didn't arrive on time but he received it yesterday and all is right with the world now.  I have been really busy at work which always upsets my home life.  It should settle down in the next few days and then I can get back on track.  We finally replaced the trampoline over the weekend so we are back to bouncing.  The ToddlerTown has BIG plans this weekend.  We have a birthday celebration and a small trip planned.  So looking forward to some family time.  Life is good.

I hope your Wednesday puts you over the hump and heading into the weekend.  I believe (as of this writing) the weather in our area is going to be gorgeous.  I'm excited for the weekend.

 

In other news . . . .

 

Sir T is taking the SOL in math this morning.  T is a REALLY REALLY smart  boy.  I know I'm his mom but his memory is phenomenal.  He loves history, science, etc. but math escapes him.  I think for him he loves to figure things out so instead of memorizing the tables, etc., he spends too much time trying to figure out what numbers are/mean.  Anyway, he tested high last year (not off the chart but higher than average) so I'm not worried. I'm just praying that he takes his time and focuses.  I think Willy has gotten him so worked up that he is stressed for this test.  Good luck sweetheart.

 

Sir K is really excited lately about reading.  He got a great book at the school library on sharks and he has been reading it around the clock.  I must say, it's a very interesting book with great pictures.

 

Lady E is completely recovered from poison ivy.  She also is feeling better this morning and went off to school with a smile.  This morning, she asked if she could take a shower with me in our new master bathroom shower.  So we had a nice shower together.  I washed her hair and we talked.  Love these moments.

 

Lady A had a nice little treat this morning.  Willy decided to take the clown car out.  What is a clown car you ask?  I think I mentioned this a few months ago.  One of my co-workers was selling a 1978 Convertible Super Beetle at a ridiculous price SO we bought it.  It doesn't fit all of us and it is totally impractical BUT man is it fun.  My very first car was a 1971 Super Beetle (not convertible) and I have great memories of that car.  It's just basically a grocery getter but at night we all SIX pile in and drive around the neighborhood with the top down star gazing.  Since we look like a bunch of clowns, we named it the clown car.  It's quite a fun time.

Wednesday Wrap Up

Today I am all messed up.  I switched my teleworking day from yesterday to today and now I can't figure out what day of the week it is.  Ever have that problem???

 

In other news . . .

 

Took Sir T to the ear doctor this morning for a follow-up hearing test and he didn't pass.  The next thing I knew I was discussing ear tubes/SURGERY.  I know it's not that big of a deal (remember we have done it twice now with T) but it still makes me sad that he has to go through it.  I will say, this morning he was a COMPLETE trooper.  The doctor numbed his nose and then stuck a camera on a long skinny wire into his nose.  He didn't even reach for me once.  When did he become so brave?  I missed having him grab for my hand to comfort him.

 

Sir K is as happy as happy can be.  See, a neighbor's tree fell down the other day and into our yard.  The tree struck our fence (which we need a new one anyway) and unfortunately the trampoline (not fixable).  This is like a new toy for Kevin.  Have I ever told you he's a climber?   He is such a monkey.

 

Lady E is in her final preparations for her bridging ceremony.   She is graduating to the Brownie Girl Scout program.  I'm so proud of her.  She has really worked hard. 

 

Lady A is doing great as well.  She also appears to have monkey-like tendencies.  She's right in there with Sir K.  I think the house is going to be VERY sad this afternoon though.  The neighbor called and the tree company is coming sometime today to cut and remove the tree.

 

Willy is fine.  I'm fine.  The weather has been perfect.  The family had our first picnic of the season last night in the backyard.  Life is good. 

Wednesday Wrap Up

Today is not going well at all.  I'm still SO sick to my stomach over the recent events in Boston.  I can't stop thinking about the direction this world is going in and the future of our children. 

I know for me, my children's faces are filled with such promise and hope.  In a way, I'm thankful that they are oblivious to their surroundings.  I'm glad that they are unaware of the horrible reality that surrounds them.  Right now, it's time for them to laugh, hope and cherish today.    I just hate the fact that they will have to understand one day that there are terrible people in this world.   Sad sad reality. 

Yet again, Boston teaches us to count our blessings EVERY chance we get.  Life can change in a blink of an eye.
