Stormy Weather

We had a terrible storm rip through our area Friday night.  I'm a little embarrassed to write that I had no idea the storm was even headed our way.  We had some friends over for dinner and drinks and we were not paying any attention to the weather.  Around 10, after it had cooled down a bit we moved outside to the patio.  At roughly 10:30 a beautiful breeze kicked up and we were all enjoying the cooling off period.  HOWEVER, within 5-10 minutes it was probably the scariest storm I have EVER been through.  Willy ran to the shed to shut the doors and a huge branch broke off and hit the ground 20 feet from him.  It scared me to death.  Our friends ended up spending the night (thank God) and in the end we were all safe and together.

We drove around Saturday morning and I captured some of the damage.

Unfortunately, 9 people lost their lives as a result of this storm (my heart breaks for their families), there are still millions without power and there is lots of clean up all over the area.

This storm is yet another reminder how precious life is and how everything can change in an instant.  You better believe I counted all my blessings all weekend long.  I hope this post finds you safe and sound.  Count your blessings as often as possible and I'll catch up with you soon.
